Claps, Likes & Shares Matter More Than Reading
I don’t want to sound arrogant.
But I have to ask does anyone actually read anymore, or has reading become obsolete?
Because from what I see, most people don’t read, they scroll.
Back in university, I had a classmate who never actually read Dickens’ massive novels. Too much effort. Instead, she skimmed the preface, raised her hand at every seminar, and walked away looking smarter than the rest of us, while we sat there feeling guilty for being 50 pages behind.
📌 She had, in a way, predicted modern society.
We no longer bother to do things properly.
We cut corners.
We plagiarize.
We cheat.
Because it’s easier.
And the worst part? It’s not just a bad habit. It’s a system-wide failure.
The same thing is happening in education today.
📌 Some students aren’t earning degrees because they’ve studied.
📌 They’re earning them because they’ve mastered the art of finding the fastest, least demanding shortcut.
Last semester, I worked with 150 students. Guess how many actually cared about what they were studying?
